There are very few hiking peaks in the Sesto Dolomites, but who is surprised by the rugged pinnacles, all the walls and towers? The Oberbachern peaks are an exception, which - like the neighbouring Einser ( 2,698 m) - appear quite inaccessible from the Altensteiner Valley, but have a "weak" southern flank. Their eastern summit can be easily climbed via an old war path, not much more than half an hour from the Büllelejochhütte. The detour is well worth it, as the Oberbachernspitze is located right in the centre of the Sesto mountains, which means a wonderful unobstructed view. The rocky outline of the Bachern valley with Rotwand (2,965 m), Elfer (3,092 m), Hochbrunnerschneid (3,046 m) and Zwölfer (3,094 m) is particularly impressive; from a high vantage point you can see that the "Schuster" is the peak of an entire mountain range. Exactly to the west is the Drei-Zinnen-Hütte with the rock stump of the Toblinger Knoten (2,617 m) to the right; to the left, behind the Paternkofel, the most famous mountain profile south of the Großglockner peeps in - that of the Drei Zinnen. From the church in Moos, take the bus to Fischleinboden (1,454 m). Hike along a much used path through the Bacherntal valley to the Zsigmondyhütte (2,224 m). Continue on a former war path via the stony Oberbachernalm in several loops uphill to the Oberbachernjoch (2,519 m) and flat over to the nearby Büllelejochhütte (2,528 m). The ascent to the summit begins right behind the hut; red dots and cairns guide you across the undulating cart terrain northwards towards the ridge of the Oberbachernspitzen. Keeping to the right under a ridge peak and on a clear track through the southern flank of the middle peak; a somewhat gloomy tunnel can also be bypassed on the outside. Past a ridge saddle and across the scab-drenched slope to the summit of the eastern Oberbachernspitze. Descent on the ascent path.
